Founder's Day Celebration
Location Time Founder's Day is when the community of Templeton commemorates the anniversary of the arrival of the first passengers off the train in November of 1886, as well as area's roots in agriculture. In earlier days, this event was a "homecoming" celebration wherein members of the community, past and present, would gather to reminisce and visit with family and friends. Recently, this event was revived by the Templeton Chamber of Commerce and Templeton Historical Museum Society with an Old- Fashioned Pie Social and entertainment. This year we will be celebrating the 126th Anniversary with a Street-Faire on Main Street. We will keep the tradition of providing a free slice of pie (or cake) for all who attend. Our Street-Faire will feature local crafters and collectors, as well as plenty of activities for the whole family. There will be great food, live entertainment, a display of vintage tractors, hit-n-miss engines and automobiles, and other displays to celebrate our community. The event will center around the Templeton Historical Museum at 309 S. Main Street in the heart of downtown Templeton. The Feed & Grain will provide a backdrop for the display of vintage tractors and hit-n-miss engines. The event will be held on Sunday, November 18th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. This is a great time for our crafters to sell their wares because it is just before Thanksgiving and the Holiday season. It is also a great time to recognize our roots in agriculture as the Fall Harvest Season comes to an end and cooler weather sets in… At this time, we are asking for sponsorships to offset the cost of promotion, organization, entertainment and refreshments, including the pies and cakes. Please see the Sponsorship Request Form for more information. We are also accepting applications from craft and food vendors who would like to participate. For more vendor information, see the Vendor Application Form. |
